What is the cost of apprenticeship?

There is no cost to candidates who enroll. The apprenticeships involved are paid for by the employer who hires a candidate. It is entirely free. If you are eligible, the free 90-day course allows you to learn whether or not an Automation Specialist apprenticeship interests you.

When member employers let us know they have entry-level apprenticeship job openings for Automation Specialists in your area, ETA provides your profile and those of other candidates in the area to the employer for consideration.

Based on the employer’s needs, they may choose one or more candidates for an interview for the role.

If hired by the employer, you would be offered a paid, full-time Automation Specialist apprenticeship by the employer. This apprenticeship is administered by Emerging Technology Apprenticeships. It would require 2 to 3 hours of online coursework a week while you are also doing on-the-job learning at the employer.

Entry-level apprenticeships like the Automation Specialist apprenticeship require on-site, field technician work involving devices, firmware, and software.

Which employers do you partner with? How often do vacancies arise?

We partner with employers in the critical infrastructure and automation industry. A good example of the employers who work with us are those who install Distech Controls Systems or Tridium Systems. Our employers are the system integrator companies who install those systems and similar systems into buildings. Vacancy frequency varies by geographic location and employer.
